Observation details
Observed two individuals in a thicket adjacent to the paddy field. One of them had a clear long supercilium and black lateral crown stripe. Its tail appeared to be short. The other individual which was seen along with it appeared to be pale. But I did notice the rounded head and short tail, and the very distinct black eyebrow, It was seen at a height of approximately 1.5 feet in a bush. These warblers were seen with a mixed flock of Plain and ashy prinias. From the field itself, I had a feeling that that it was a Black-browed Reed warbler due to its noticeable dark stripe. Later I sent the pictures to Praveen J Aswin Viswanathan and C Sasikumar and they confirmed that it was a Black-browed Reed Warbler. As per the ebird data, it is the first report of Black browed reed warbler from south india.
