Observation details
*Continuing rarity. Seen briefly along the trail near the bridge, before it jumped across into the phrags, disappearing for the better part of an hour. Around 8:30 I noticed some movement on the ground in gaps in the goldenrod patch, and sure enough that unique behavior of mouse-like movement was the Leconte's! For a few minutes it continued to moved around on the ground, before climbing some goldenrods and perching in and out of view for another few minutes, offering as good of looks as you'd hope for. It looked like it was eating plant matter from the tips of the goldenrods.
