Observation details
First seen chasing a Bonaparte’s Gull alongside Forster’s Tern. Was very distant on A9 most of the time. Appeared rather tawny when floating on the water with a paler nape. In flight appeared less robust than Pomarine would. Showed distinct white flash in underwing and smaller flash in upper wing. Clearly more white than on Long-tailed. White rump with barring seen occasionally in flight. At one point when it was a bit closer and banked, I briefly saw small pointed central tail feathers that appeared typical of Parasitic. Jaeger spent a lot of time far out on pond just drifting in the brisk wind. Then it would chase a tern briefly.
