Precise Lat Long from Tennesse.hometownlocator.com for former town of "Sandy Bridge". Text matches description (on the (only) trail/road-in1831--from Nashville to Memphis about 35% of way along. They indicate they had travelled west from nashville towards Memphis, crossed the Tennessee River and stopped in Sandy Bridge when the carriage broke. Search for former town of "Sandy Bridge" at Tennessee.hometownlocator.com. The Lat Long is provided and it fits with he location in the text. In modern times that trail is US75 and town is Hollow Rock, Carroll County, TN. Beginning of page 572 gives the day and month. "fifteenth of December" Image further down establishes the only Dec 15th they were in the US and Tennessee was 12/15/1831 Birds viewed by inn proprietor and famous french visitor to US on December 15, 1831--Alexis de Tocqueville who kept extensive diaries and wrote famed "Democracy in America". He and his traveling companion was trapped at the log cabin inn at Sandy Bridge due to broken coach caused by snow and extreme cold. Tocqueville confirms his knowledge of the species with a picture in his notebook around Dec 23 of one of the 4 Carolina Parakeets he shot near Memphis about a week later. P. 594 of this same book identifies the species as "Carolina Paroquets"--see separate ebird observation in Memphis
