Observation details
See notes and photos for Masked Booby on this same checklist. This Nazca individual was identified by the pink/orange beak and greater extent of white in the middle tail (retrices). It was smaller than the Masked Booby and maintained a more subordinate, hunched posture, but the two were clearly fond of each other, showing affectionate body language with the Nazca soliciting allopreening by the Masked which happily obliged. The Masked stood tall while it preened the other's face. Photos: first two by Jay Robinson, next three by Sherman Wing.
