Observation details
Roosting. Large thrush with rufous cap. Bold white eyering with slight break behind the eye. White eyebrow in front of the eye. Large bill. Extensive dark bold spots below. The combination of the bold white eyering and the extensive dark bold spots below separate this species from other similar thrushes possibly in the area at this time of year, such as Veery, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Bicknell's Thrush and Swainson's Thrush. The photos were obtained by Jay Bock, another tour participant, and he gave me permission to upload them to this checklist. Unfortunately, Jay's compact flash card was corrupted, and he could not access the images. However, he was able to view the images in the camera's display, and he obtained photos of the display, which are the images uploaded to this checklist. Note that portions of two other photos are visible at the top and bottom of one of the photos, and a portion of the bold eyering of the Wood Thrush is more clearly visible at the bottom of that photo.
