Observation details
First found 5 January by Dick Erickson and Alan Barron. After much searching we finally found the Le Conte's Sparrow. It gave us very excellent looks at very close range--20 ft. or less. The whitish crown stripe was very evident bordered by two dark broad stripes. The face was very bright orange with gray lores and gray ear coverts. The nape very distinctive gray with magenta stripes. Back dark with bold white stripes. Throat whitish (cream) breast bright buffy blending to brighter orangish sides that were streaked. Belly whitish. Bill horn colored - light. Tail short and sharply pointed.
