Observation details
Juvenile. Rusty red crown with bold white supercilium. Warm honey-colored buffy breast with white belly. Medium length bill with fleshy colored base, slightly decurved. Heavy chested, long-bodied with tapered tail, Dark brown and rufous mottled back and coverts. White underwing coverts with grey smudgy grey primaries and secondaries. Mostly brown upperwing with white wing stripe. Would often hunker down to ground near dry tall grass clumps when other shorebirds would raise alarm calls or flush from overhead raptors. Often raised scapulars which looked reminiscent of Ruffs, which was really cool.
