Media notes
The antpitta is heard throughout the recording, looking like a backbone on the spectogram. At 1:03 a loud five-note call is heard of which I am not sure what species it is.
Observation details
Pied-crested or Black-crested Tit-Tyrant. Originally reported as Black-crested Tit-Tyrant, which has been reported in the area but to date does not have any evidence on eBird. Two individuals were heard and seen in the Polylepis woods. Only sound records were made. They were impossible to photograph, as they moved around constantly and mostly perched inside the canopy, out of sight. The song heard on the audio is very similar to Pied-crested Tit-Tyrant. Most recordings for Black-crested Tit-Tyrant on Xenocanto are quite different, but the reguloides-like song is also reported there. Altogether, Óscar and I decided that the evidence is insufficient to be acceptable as first evidence of this species for the department of Lima.
