Observation details
A total surprise! Popped up atop the brush near the access to the old trail of use where the golf course access road turns west (opposite the sign marking the tees for holes 3 & 4). It then, amazingly, dropped down onto the lawns to forage. As multiple golfers arrived in succession it retreated into the cover of the blackberry bramble, but later appeared at the edges to forage, apparently on dried blackberries and such. Plain gray thrush with black cap and rusty red undertail coverts - best view of this species I've had in SF! Unusually, it never vocalized. Lousy phone photos for documentation.
