Observation details
(Rare & Unreported Dot) Recording. Fun surprise and just adding to our banner bird day after seeing the stint and finding both golden-plovers! We stopped thinking we'd heard bushtits and then that unmistakable wheeze had us both saying gnatcatcher! There seemed like two voices, or else one bird moving around like crazy (not impossible with these little wind-up toys) but as we were watching and recording two birds appeared side-by-side. So cool. Small blue gray oddjobs with long black tails with white outer feathers. Saw them a bunch for a few minutes, foraging vigorously in the tops of Scotch broom shrubs. My best looks at the undertails of one bird seemed like a lot of white, suggesting Eastern birds, but definitely inconclusive. First seen trailside here, but others' detections later had the birds moving further west into the scrub and out of sight: 45.527285,-123.949535
