Observation details
photos D070168-D070170 -- two, flying; black or grayish-mottled crowns, red bills // Merlin Photo ID gives only Caspian Tern, even though Royal is equally-likely based on the eBird Bar Chart for this location and date. (The two birds are not even the same genus: Caspian = Hydroprogne caspia & Royal = Thalasseus maximus.) // ID from Nick S., Delaware Birding group: "The black extending to the forehead and the very red-colored bill distinguish Caspian from Royal. Royal would have a more yellow-orange beak with a white forehead."
