Observation details
Two small nightjars flying up from the road to glean insects, then returning to land in the road again, often at the very same location. They were just down the road from the summit parking lot. The birds were grayish overall with short tails and relatively short, rounded wings, and they lacked the white wing patches of nighthawks. These birds showed orange eye-shine. One bird had white corners to its tail, presumably a male.
