Observation details
Walked out a trail 5 and found the plovers in the dry sand close to the water. We had good scope views from a distance and the birds remained calm. We counted 11 from this vantage point. After a short time a truck drove down the beach and flushed the plovers. We then counted 19 in the wet part of the beach closest to the waves where they stayed and foraged for several minutes and another 12 in the dry sand in the tire tracks. All of the markers and enclosures for the protected area for the plovers has been removed.
