Observation details
Bird originally misidentified as Levant Sparrowhawk, but on review photos clearly show an adult female Shikra. Iris is honey-yellow and cere pale greenish-yellow. Except for throat (which is not clearly visible), the entire head is grey as are the upperparts; a hint of a buffish collar can be seen on the side of the neck. Underparts pale with fine, light buffish-brown barring. The undertail of the sitting bird shows 5 (mayby 6) very narrow bands in the outer tailfeather, while a more central tail feather (the basal third of which is obscured) shows two broad, very dark bands and a similar sub-terminal band.
