Observation details
Absolutely mind-numbing find this morning by George Keller. First state record, almost certainly related to the dozens of birds found in Florida over the last couple of days following the landfall of Hurricane Idalia. One juvenile bird and one adult, spent most of their time sleeping a few feet off the beach in the water. Birds were fully capable of flight (as photographed earlier this morning) and showed zero signs of captivity (bands, feather wear/trimming, etc.).
