Observation details
I am including a poor photo. Sabine's Gull had been previously reported by Hal Yokum at this location, I found a gull that fit the size and plumage of a juvenile Sabine's. This gull was with a group of Ring-billed and Franklin's Gulls that were flushed from the shore by walkers and flew to the water. The Sabine's is the center bird in the photo. Smaller than the Franklin's Gulls in the same photo. Brownish gray on the neck and nape, where the Franklin's are showing white on both the neck and nape. The coloration of the face and head are more consistent with a Sabine's and do not show the darker smudges of a juvenile or 1st winter Franklin's. The crown of the head is also paler than the Franklin's. Additional observation, the facial markings and neck plumage do not appear to be consistent with a Bonaparte's Gull.
