Observation details
Continuing, photos. When I arrived at the location, the bird was resting still in the water on the east end of the pond. Once I slowly approached the bird started swimming and feeding. I had the great pleasure of spending an hour and 20 minutes with this Red Phalarope as it fed along a 50-foot section of icy shoreline. I stood on the edge of the shore and the bird swam within 4 feet of me at times. I watched the phalarope feeding, stretching its wings, and eventually bathing. David showed up and we talked birds for awhile. The bird moved off to the northeast corner of the pond as we were starting to leave at 2pm.
