Observation details
Flying just above treeline, very clear views of tail. Took photos but they're not great. Very dense forest area with mature trees. Stringybark dominant species. Initially perched in canopy and flying at canopy level in a large circle for a minute or two. Tail square shape, definitely not rounded. Primaries have brown and black bars/bands that become darker towards the periphery of the wing; secondaries have black and white bars/bands that become darker towards the periphery of the wing. Marginal coverts brownish. Head white-ish; body light and dark brown. Tail has dark brown to black band at the distal end; the remainder of the tail is lighter. Unfortunately, photos are not very good as I had trouble focusing through the trees.
