Observation details
Mega rarity Day 3, Jason D relocated the bird at the end of scope range to the NW. At 9:00 am it flew across the south end of Anderson Island against the dark green conifers giving us excellent views in filtered sunlight. Proceeded to feed at the base of the DuPont bluff at the mouth of Red Salmon Creek, east of Nisqually River mouth. A striking very large bright white bird on back and front, with strongly contrasting black flight feathers and mask. Tail was dark at least on the outer edges. Large bill when seen against the dark green trees was pinkish orange versus the yellow of a Masked Booby. Didn’t see leg color. Flight strong and deep on slightly bowed wings, but would lock wings level when circling and before several plunge dives. Watched for over an hour.
