Observation details
Continuing rarity. We heard a few isolated calls intermittently throughout the morning, but it took three and a quarter hours for the bird to start singing consistently and we were finally able to get good visuals. It seemed to stay in this general area, 32.389667,-110.705265, favoring a particular branch near the very top of a large pine at the top of the ridge. Empid that was noticeably gray over all, lacking the greenish coloration of Cordillerans. When viewed below and from the front, the primary projection was much longer than Cordilleran. Bill was on the longer side and was narrow at the base. Lower mandible was solid orange. White tear-drop eyering was less extended at the back, giving it a more rounded off appearance. Notched tail. Song/calls were distinctive. Two syllable, almost vireo-like. Ascending second note of song had a slight quaver to it. Photos.
