Observation details
Key features are the narrow long thin bill with dark tip, arguing against Pomarine which would have a thicker bill. That leaves Parasitic and Long-Tailed. The nape seemed kind of golden brown in the field. The bill seems long and narrow, with nail covering less than half of the bill, arguing for Parasitic. Overall, this bird looks very much like the allaboutbirds Parasitic immature light morph photos especially the light white areas near the tips of the primaries. Also, Dale captured a flight photo showing the tail shape! (The barring underneath, with the white to dark ratio, looks a bit like Long-Tailed references, but this does not overcome all of the other features which are for Parasitic). Overall...more likely Parasitic, which is supported by all the local experts! Congratulations to amazing birders Andrew and Dale for spotting this super rarity. Seen with John and Dale....thanks both for getting us on it! (bird was on a structure that accepted for Harris, and then I saw it flying away south and inland over the Harris treeline as JB phoned me to tell me to look)
