Observation details
When I first spotted the bird in a tree in my front yard with a handful of chickadees, I thought it was a blackpoll or a black and white warbler but then I noticed it still kind of looked like a chickadee so I grabbed my camera and tried to get a few snaps. Then I started thinking yellow rumped based on how it flitted about. But when I saw the throat then I also saw the yellow by front of eye and realized that I really didn’t know what I was looking at, unfortunately, all the birds were startled by something a few seconds later and flew away, I waited another 30 minutes and never saw it again. Once I downloaded the photos and cleaned them up some, read Sibley etc and loaded pics into Merlin, Seek and Google Lens my research indicated this had to be a black-throated gray, so I then posted in on No Am Warbler group on FB and they have confirm my ID as well. A lifer for me, and a 1st for PWC if I am correct! See my heavily cropped, far off but hopefully good enough photos…I sure hope this stands!
