Observation details
Small sterna with pretty extensive cap. Noticed a white spot moving on the water, expecting a phalarope, it started flying. Got the scope on it and resting on the water it had a dark contrasting carpal bar. But when it started flying the carpal bar was not noticeable, and the primary tips formed a very thin black line - not the wedge you’d expect on a Common. I took a couple videos but was already running late. Luckily it stuck and Kyle was able to get amazing photos and confirm it as Arctic. Wild! https://www.flickr.com/gp/dialbforbirder/85jnJ7K0mG
