Observation details
Seen coming to a Scarlett eucalyptus at 37.6776274, -122.4491541. When it came in I thought it was going to be a blackpoll warbler or similar, but when it popped out it was clear it was an oriole, and an Orchard at that. This was a small oriole with bright yellow underparts from the chin to the tail. The wings were grayish with two bright white wing bars. The bill with fairly short and straight. Compared to Hooded Oriole, this bird was smaller, with a shorter tail and shorter, straighter bill. The wingbars were more defined and the yellow was brighter compared to Hooded. What clinched the ID was that the bird gave several chup vocalizations, reminiscent of a brewers blackbird call. Note that were also several juvenile hooded orioles in the cemetery.
