Observation details
One of the more difficult plumaged birds I have come across. I studied it for quite some time as it constantly moved around the canopy. The bird showed an uniform greenish tinge across the whole back and head . It had two wing bars and a full eye ring. The bird threw me off as the chest, belly and chin showed more contrast to the back than what I typically have seen on yellow bellied. There was some tinge of yellow to the belly and chest but minimal. Ofcourse the bird didn’t vocalize in the long period of time I watched it, and I could never really get a good idea on the wing projection. Although it was overall drabber than a clear cut yellow bellied, I felt it was too far out of the limits of color a least would show, and didn’t any contrast between the back and head that I have seen on immature least. The lower mandible also showed clear orange underneath , something i have noted on all yellow bellied.
