Observation details
Absolutely class. One of the best birds I’ve seen in Ireland. Arrived in the pitch dark on my own. Twenty minutes before sunrise, a serious of ‘chak’ calls drew my attention to the corner of the original location. After a few moments I located the culprit…Paddyfield Warbler. The bird had clearly just left it’s roost as it sat completely still on a low branch for 2-3 minutes before flicking up into the adjacent hedgerow, sitting out in the open, not moving for a further 2 or so minutes. All this while I was having full frame scope views from about 15-20 metres. This was the only identifiable view I managed before I left at 15:00. 6th record for Ireland. Found the previous evening by Paul Walsh.
