Observation details
Continuing Phalarope first reported by Terry Banks. Smaller than Wilson’s with shorter, thinner bill. Black ear patch. Dark shading on crown, extending down nape to shaded, streaky back. White throat and underparts. Initial views at a distance on Pond 1W swimming among ducks. Seen again at the end of our visit at drying basin with mixed flock of sandpipers and Black-necked Stilts. Preening and bathing. Photo to follow.
