Observation details
Spent a while watching both the male and female. Female showed first and briefly, she swam under overhanging vegetation, shortly afterwards, the male appeared from the same spot. Male then swam across the open water before foraging under overhanging vegetation, sometimes disappearing for up to 5 minutes. Female then reappeared and sun bathed on one of the boulders but seemed alert throughout. The male approached her and she moved away, there seemed to be a brief moment of contact between the pair and the female promptly left - giving off a loud "chuck" call in the process (see pics). Also of interest was watching the female completely clear the water in an attempt to grab a prey item from an overhanging branch.
