Media notes
Two Sooty-headed Bulbul volcalisations can be heard on this track each given by a different individual in neighbouring trees. The song is the sweet 3-note sequence whose highest note is at about 4kHz, the first one given just before the 3 second mark. The rather harsh, irregularly repeated call is vertical on the sonogram (not slanted like the sparrow calls later in the recording) incorporating frequencies from ~3 - 6kHz, an early example being the two calls at 6 seconds. High pass filter to reduce wind noise, trimmed, normalised to -3dB. Decided not to remove sections with loud extraneous noises as the birds could still be heard right through those sections, but it does mean the target sounds are a little bit harder to hear than they otherwise would be.
Observation details
Recording made of one making a continuous unmusical call and another giving a sweet chirping little song. But a very noisy environment.
