Observation details
Female seen with female Northern Shoveler. Plain brownish duck with dark slender bill, solid light brown head with darker brown cap and eyeline. Medium brown body feathers surrounded by pale edging makes her seem more delicately patterned than Green-winged Teal. Dark primaries seen while sitting on water. Blue speculum on wing seen well in flight after the bird flushed.
