Observation details
Mid-sized sandpiper with long, slightly down-curved black bill, whitish supercilium, light grey head, neck, and upper back. Wing covers somewhat scaly. Flanks without pronounced barring (as in dowitchers). Long yellow legs. Was foraging by itself, mostly up to its belly in water. Rapid probing the bottom, often with head under water, interrupted by brief alert pauses.
