Observation details
so many of them this morning, only second in number to the egrets!!! Not sure how to even count them because they are everywhere, in the morning they were flying around in all directions, mostly eastward but unlike the evening when they only flew west in the morning there are also others flying in other directions, probably to forage. At the pond south of the village where I waited in the morning there were many that came and hovered around, some juveniles and some adults, and many touched the water surface and I saw one swalling a huge fish that seemed almost too big for its throat!! see photos. Later I went further east to another small village where there was another fish pond and saw for the first time the terns perched! (also the first time I ever saw any tern perched), and I watched them there for some time, they are so pretty!! Some perched on a thin cable running across the pond and others perched on utility poles. I was able to get pretty close without them flying away, especially one juvenile and adult that were perched on a cable on the pond and didn't mind me taking pictures. The juvenile kept calling, not sure why but I recorded some audio, and the adult next to it just stayed silent. Also I saw in the distance one utilty line with many birds perched on top of it, after taking a photo realized they were also all terns (about 10 individuals). Super cool birds!! juvenile count is estimate
