Observation details
Unbelievable. According to Ron Smith’s book 4 individuals was the most ever (1885?) for Pinellas County. Other records of just 1 individual. Large, pink, long-legged wading bird. Black feathers under wing. Large, up turned bill. Appeared 13 adults, 1 “teenager”, 2 gray juveniles. Hurricane Idalia birds probably from Cuba or Marquesas/Tortugas. A book species I’ve been chasing. Hiked 1.5-miles into park to location
