Observation details
My quick field id was a Wilson’s Phalarope but after downloading some poor distant photos I believe it looks more like a Red or a Red-necked Phalarope. Not a bird I’ve seen before. One pic Had a semipalmated plover in view for a rough size comparison although SP was closer to camera distorting size a bit. The Phalarope was slightly larger than SP more along size of a Killdeer. Seemed to have a Chunky body with White front and underneath and grayish on wings and back. Had a distinctive black eye to ear patch and white between ear patch and dark cap that ran down back of neck to shoulders. Light was not good for color of legs and bill but they were dark color and definitely not yellow. It was Feeding along water and mud edge and had some quick and some jerky left and right motion. I Looked down at my pics on camera and when I looked back up it was gone so I didn’t see wing patterns in flight. After re-consideration of all info I believe it was a Red-necked Phalarope. Bill length seemed a little long compared to Red P pics i looked at. I have some poor distant photos(150-200 yds) and will attach. I know this is rare for here and I’m Not certain on this id but it’s my best assessment based on what I observed and pics taken. I stand to be corrected by more knowledgeable birders if my id is incorrect.
