Observation details
Heard scratchy repetitive vireo song coming from eucalyptus. Have poor recordings I will upload. I took a long time trying to see the bird which started at the entrance of the park nearest the native garden, then moved down the eucalyptus row until it was visible from the garden. Lots of distant views in the morning light, which can make observing color challenging, and the bird stayed very high in the trees, but I was consistently seeing a yellow tinge to both the flanks, and I believe also the wings when I got glimpses of them. It was not a boldly marked bird. I was able to see the bold white spectacles on a gray head. Throat was white, and bird was white or buffy below. Bold wing bars on solid wing. Throat contrasted with gray auriculars, but line between looked rather weak. I am saying Cassin's based on the apparent yellow, but my confidence is quite low on this ID.
