Observation details
first time seeing in guangzhou and first time taking photo and audio recording of one!! this is also my first sighting of one, my first was a very strange and random encounter near a swimming pool. This time I was going along one of the lakes when I heard a quite bird call like a trill on one of the trees, couldn't recognize it because it didn't sound like any tit or prinia, sounds like a very small bird though. Looked around for a bit but because it came from so high on the canopy I assumed the bird was very well hidden and thus very hard to find, the source of the sound didn't seem to move around either so I moved around under the tree to try to find a lucky angle where I could spot one. The lighting didn't make it any easier either, as the sunlight was shining directly through the canopy. Either way I eventually spotted the small bird perched stationary on one of the branches, luckily unobstructed (just took some careful searching of the canopy to spot it) and I took some photos immediately, in the viewfinder saw curved bill and red throat which is an adult male, didn't get to see its tail because of the angle but good enough to confirm the species. Super cool sighting!!! it probably stayed there for a good 10 minutes and I left afterwards to find some other birds, didn't expect to find one in these densely forested environments (thought more likely gardens or fruiting trees? but really have no idea)
