Observation details
One individual observed for ~ 10 min. prior to arrival of 52 others, apparently from the north. Scattered across grassy flat for easy counting, within 20 to 75 m distance. Scrutinized the flock for similar species and concluded all were Buff-breasted. Pale tan underparts and breast, with relatively squarish heads and relatively short dark bills. Foraging method is a somewhat random pattern of traversing ground. This loose flock moved toward my position, as I observed with 10x - 20x optics. Obtained digiscoped photos. This event lasted for at least 15 min. before most of the flock cryptically dissipated. Similar species eliminated by plumage and foraging characteristics include: Baird's Sandpiper and Plover sp. (N.A. life species #506)
