Observation details
(estimated count) We walked from the Reservoir up toward the first farm. Many were flying above the nearby fields, and a few were skimming the surface of the Reservoir's water. There were also small flocks of 3 to 8 perched on a wire simultaneously, most of which appeared to be fledglings, as evidenced by their extended, yellow-flanged mandibles. Some were waiting with open beaks for their parents to bring them food, and there were some very quick feedings taking place. After feeding a fledgling, each parent quickly departed and took flight across the field to catch more insects. When large vehicles were passing by on the road, the birds on the wires would immediately take flight, but would soon return after the vehicles had passed.
