Observation details
When I hear Wood-Pewees during spring migration in my hometown of Merced, I generally hear one syllable calls (zeee) rather than two syllable calls (pe-wee). I wondered why the bird was called Wood-Pewee instead of Wood-Zee. Today's bird lived up to its name. It made two-syllable calls that show up clearly in the spectrogram.
