Observation details
* mega. A sexy little cutie plover with a beautiful, distinctive pattern: white forehead and eyeline, and a fading orangey chest. Pale beige overall, which was the best way to distinguish this bird among the slightly darker Semipalmated Plovers at a great distance. Larger, pointed black bill. Subspecies following expert consensus. A peripatetic individual that has made its way from the most remote, seagirt fastness of the boreal forest on Anticosti Island in Quebec to two New England states. Foraged energetically alongside sundry shorebirds but was not as flighty as other observers have noted. My second lifer sand-plover in 11 days!
