Observation details
Continuing subadult gull that has been generally identified as Western. The bird is missing a significant number of feathers due to molting and appears bleached. It is a large, stocky gull with a heavy, blunt, black bill with a slightly pale base on the lower mandible. The legs are pink. The primaries and tail appear darker than the wings, although the whole bird appears bleached and these features are grey/brown rather than black. Much of the tail is missing. Photos to follow.
