Observation details
I only saw this bird in flight for about ten seconds, but it was identifiable by its fairly large, chunky shorebird shape; short, straight bill; small head and distinctive, descending "Kwi-di-di" flight calls. I heard it or possibly another bird call at least a dozen times when I couldn't see it as well several times while I could see it. It was in the farthest west fields on both sides of the main E-W road. The last I saw it, it was flying towards the north end of the refuge, but I don't believe it left the refuge. I managed to record one call before it was too far away.
