Observation details
This was likely a conservative estimate of the total number of Bank Swallows at this location. At least fifty Bank Swallows were estimated to be flying around the dam at the north end of the reservoir and going into nest holes in an exposed bank to the east of the dam. In the road into one the south campground area, we saw another exposed sand bank along the east side of the road where about twenty swallows seemed to excavating nest holes. As we left the regional park and drove across the dam, we stopped and could see many more Bank Swallows going into other exposed banks along the west side of the reservoir; we estimated there were at least another one hundred Bank Swallows along this western part of the reservoir.
