Observation details
In the early morning light, a handsome member of the Bushshrike family (Malaconotidae), now split from the true Shrikes. The English name is taken from Africans and derived from the bird's call. Sexes are alike. This one is an adult, probably the pale race "T. z. phanus." It appears to have a swollen foot.
