Observation details
I finally caught up with them! Foraging over the big pond and calling. I saw one come down for a sip of water. The call was distinct. Single well spaced notes that sounded like a soft, and round somewhat reverberating Chew...chew. The sound brought this image to me that they were flying around in front of a concrete wall and their voices were bouncing off the walls. The one I saw best was a juvenile- it was a large swallow with all dark underwings, dark on top, maybe a dark throat, but lots of white below. The sun was harsh so I couldn't see much color.
