Observation details
*Mega rarity. bird in non breeding plumage was viewed and first seen by our group (wild images) and later viewed by another tour group. Feeding on whale and reindeer meat put out for the bears on the ice. The original thought of this bird's identification was a Slaty back due to its prominent black wingtips. That was until the bird flashed its YELLOW legs. And the size of this bird was far shy of the size of a SBGU. maybe the size of a parasitic jaeger. Because of the disappearance of internet in the entire North slope nobody was able to report it. photos taken by members of the group including Mike Watson. The entire sighting of this bird was forgotten until I found this photo in the depths of my hard drive.
