Observation details
Male in nest from start of observation 09:55, until female arrived at 16:19 and the pair quite quickly shifting spots, the male flying off presumably to feed during the last hour of sunlight (see video). Alert, but not shy. However, when Black Kites flew by, the brooding bird would become obviously anxious, shifting around in the nest to orient itself so that it’s camouflage had the greatest effect, based on the position of the raptor. Predation by Kites likely one of the main (natural) threats to the pigeons, since this anxious behavior have been observed in the species whenever Kites are around.
