Observation details
Observation lasted from 06:10 to 12:55. High activity in the morning, likely due to rain before sunset the day before, forcing the pigeons to their roost early. Extraordinary numbers of this rare species seen in one tree; at least 12 foraging on leaves in the canopy. Amongst them one recently fledged juvenile (possibly more). Over 1% of the entire global population gathered in one tree, if the estimated population size of 1000 individuals is accurate. Later, pairs would forage for fruit low in the small trees, displaying little to no fear of human presence.
