Media notes
Cassia calls located at 3.4, 4.9, 8.5, 10.1, 12.3, 14.7, seconds, and possibly more. Spectrogram strongest at 10.1. High pass applied to eliminate primary wind noise on unprotected phone mic, normalized.
Observation details
Continuing. Phone recording of quiet, low-pitched ‘dip’ flight call. Located at the designation sign and trail map at the trailhead. Also to note: it appeared to be undergoing a complete molt, with missing feathers on the head, belly, and wings. I understand the summer timing and completeness of the molt cycle may be distinctive to the Cassia.
